Reindeer Resources for the Christmas Holiday in the primary Classroom

I love reindeer! They are a perfect topic for the holiday season to feel like I am covering the standards and still having fun!

We start with a question passage. I am working on these and plan to add to my store as a whole year resource.

At school, we are using this printable reindeer passage. They love using these "pointers" that I made with drink stirrers and stickers!

It has 2 passages at different levels with materials for each.

My at-home learners will be reading about Reindeer digitally with this passage. They will make a web to show me what they learned.

When I've had my full class in session, I like to use these Reindeer Books to differentiate. I can teach the same topic of reindeer at 3 different reading levels so I can differentiate for all my learners.

After learning all about reindeer, we do a writing project. In the reindeer passage resources, there are webs, graphic organizers, writing outlines, and cute reindeer paper!

This page topper and paper is from my winter writing unit.

December Holiday Resources for Kindergarten and First Grade

I'm getting ready for the holidays at school! We do 3 weeks of fun holiday activities. These are some of my favorites to use the whole month of December!

Centers have been challenging since we are social distancing at school. This one helps students practice reading and writing sight words and they get to use MAGNIFYING GLASSES!

We didn't play this one since we are social distancing but it is always a favorite of my students!

This is a pocket dice graphing center. Students roll the die and tally and then graph their results. They love using the dry erase markers in the clear sleeves or page protectors.

Write the Room is a classic for centers and early finishers. These are ready-made or EDITABLE!

We're working on counting using a 120 chart. This is a fun center. They go through the cards and color to make the mystery picture.

This Roll Say Take Center is so versatile! Enter whatever skill your littles need practice on!

My students love bingo daubers. They love using the different colors to find the sight words. You'll love that it is editable so you can differentiate for your students' needs.

Do your students like Bingo? Students can make their own Christmas Bingo Game. Print in color or gray-scale and they can color. I use this as a party game for the last day before break.

Writing is always a priority in my classroom. I love these Christmas picture vocabulary cards for my writing center! They come in pocket chart size and small cards.

Here are some of my students' pieces of writing. These pages came from my Winter Writing Unit.

Being Thankful in 1st Grade! and some LAST-MINUTE Thanksgiving Ideas

As we near Thanksgiving, I always try to help my first graders to understand thankfulness. I teach in a low-socioeconomic school, but it is amazing what my students are thankful for anyway! This year I wanted to go digital so we could include our distance learners. Check out this video of the assignment I gave to my 1st grade students.

For the first year since I have been teaching, we only have school on Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week. I'm trying to pack in as many activities as I can. We started learning about Thanksgiving last week and the kids are enjoying it! Do you need some last-minute Thanksgiving ideas?

My at-home learners will be reading about turkeys digitally with this passage. They will make a web to show me what they learned.

At school, we are using a printable version of the same passage. They love using these "pointers" that I made with drink stirrers and stickers!

After doing a lot of reading to build background knowledge, we embark on a Pilgrim writing journey! Check out this video. This shows 3 lessons combined. These pages came from my Fall Writing Unit.
